Job description

Do you have a passion for supporting children with additional needs? Are you looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same and every achievement is worth celebrating?

Teaching Personnel, the UK's leading education recruitment agency, is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to support specialist schools and alternative provisions across Lichfield, Burntwood, Rugeley, Cannock, Tamworth and the surrounding areas.

Whether you're an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, a care or support worker looking to transition into education, or simply someone with the passion and resilience to make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and as an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping them reach their full potential.

From supporting a pupil to communicate their needs for the first time to helping a young person build confidence and independence, your encouragement can have a lifelong impact.

This isn't just another Teaching Assistant role—it is an opportunity to change lives.

You’ll work closely with teachers and other professionals to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Moderate, Severe and Profound Learning Difficulties
  • Complex and Medical Needs

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support.
  • Encouraging communication, independence and social development.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Assisting with learning activities tailored to individual needs.
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment.
  • Celebrating every success—big or small.

We're looking for caring, patient and enthusiastic individuals who are committed to making a positive difference.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience supporting children or vulnerable adults (education, care, residential or healthcare settings).
  • A positive, adaptable and proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

No school experience? No problem! If you have transferable skills from care, support work, youth work or similar roles, we’d love to hear from you.

As the UK's leading education recruitment agency, we offer:

  • Competitive weekly PAYE pay - no umbrella companies
  • Flexible, long-term and permanent opportunities to suit your lifestyle
  • Access to specialist SEN schools across Lichfield and the surrounding areas
  • A dedicated education consultant who understands SEN education
  • Free CPD including Autism Awareness, Team Teach, Behaviour Management and Safeguarding training
  • Opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career in education
  • Simple online timesheets and hassle-free payroll

If you’re compassionate, resilient and ready to support children who need it most, we’d love to help you find the perfect role.
