Job summary

Veritas Education Leeds is seeking Teaching Assistants for SEN schools in the West Yorkshire area, offering both part-time and full-time positions. Daily rate ranges between £95.00 and £120.00 with opportunities for day-to-day work and additional safeguarding training.

The role involves supporting small groups, helping pupils with academic tasks, and assisting with behaviour management under the guidance of a Class Teacher and Behaviour Manager. DBS and right-to-work checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting ASD, Down Syndrome and non-verbal learners.
• Ability to implement behaviour management strategies in classroom settings.
• Experience working with SEMH/SEN students and challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Work within small groups to support learners throughout lessons.
• Support learners' academic progress during each lesson.
• Contribute to keeping pupil behaviour in check as part of the class team.
• Communicate with Managers/Behaviour Manager about pupil behaviours and incidents.
• Ensure groups' work is finished and organised for the next lesson.

SEND Teaching Assistant- Leeds

Veritas Education Leeds are on the lookout for part time and full time Teaching Assistants for special educational needs schools and roles in the West Yorkshire area.

The SEN based schools Veritas Education with with are learner centred, inclusive and education driven settings with outstanding facilities, focused on creating the best learning environment possible for all learners and young people. The aim of the schools is to support all young children and learners through their education, no matter what additional educational needs they may face.

• £95.00 - £120.00 Daily Rate

• Additional training such as safeguarding and Team Teach Level 2 available!

The Role will be as follows…

• Working within small groups of learners in the classroom setting, supporting each child throughout the lesson.
• Supporting each learner with their academic progress in each lesson, whether that is to re-engage them after coming off-task or sitting with them when solving a maths problem.
• Contributing and supporting the class teacher in maintaining and controlling pupil behaviour throughout the lesson, if needed, enforcing the behavioural discipline system.
• Communicate with Managers/Behaviour Manager regarding pupil behaviours throughout the day and contributing/supporting any serious incidents taking place.
• Ensure all the groups work is finished, filled, and organised ready for the next lesson to help keep track of pupil progress and engagement levels.

Ideal Candidate:

• Encouraging and Enthusiastic
• Previous experience supporting ASD, Down Syndrome and Non-Verbal learners
• Able to implement behaviour management strategies and support students in crisis
• Previous experience working with SEMH/SEN students and dealing with challenging behaviour/classroom support.
