Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (SEN) for a welcoming primary school in Harrogate. You will support pupils with additional needs 1:1 or in small groups, adapting materials to access learning and to build confidence.

You will work with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider team to provide personalised, high‑quality support, promoting safeguarding and inclusive practice, with opportunities for training and professional development.

Learning Support Assistant (SEN)

Location: Harrogate Contract: Full‑time, Term‑time Start Date: As soon as possible / Flexible Salary: Dependent on experience

Are you passionate about helping every child reach their full potential? Do you have a nurturing approach, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (SEN) to join our welcoming primary school in Harrogate.

About the Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and flourish within the classroom environment. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider school team to ensure the child receives personalised, consistent, and high‑quality support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Support pupils with communication, social skills, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals
  • Assist with EHCP targets and ongoing monitoring of pupil progress
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
