Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is assisting a specialist SEN provision in Chelmsford to recruit a dedicated Support Worker for children aged 8-16 with Autism, ADHD and SEMH. The role focuses on creating a safe, nurturing environment and helping students achieve positive educational, emotional and social outcomes.

You will provide one-to-one and small group support, assist with classroom activities, behaviour management and safeguarding, and work closely with teachers, therapists and parents to promote

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ASD, ADHD or SEMH.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience within schools, youth work, care or alternative provisions desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN including ASD, ADHD and autism.
  • Support students with emotional regulation, communication and social interaction.
  • Assist students both inside and outside of the classroom to encourage engagement and participation.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques where required.
  • Support teachers and SEN staff with classroom activities and differentiated learning.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote confidence, wellbeing and independence.
  • Monitor student progress, behaviour and wellbeing and report concerns appropriately.
  • Support safeguarding procedures and follow all school policies and guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, pastoral staff and parents/carers.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
