Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking an SEN Support Assistant for schools across North Birmingham (Perry Barr, Erdington, Handsworth and surrounding areas). You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and feel safe and supported throughout the school day.

We are looking for patient, resilient, and caring candidates who can build positive relationships and support pupils with a range of needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
• Desirable: Autism/ASD experience, Team Teach or restraint training, SEN or specialist education settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support pupils with learning, communication and development.
• Help pupils manage behaviour and emotions.
• Provide personal care when required.
• Support mobility and manual handling where necessary.
• Build positive relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider support team.
• Create a safe, calm and supportive learning environment.
