Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking an SEN Support Assistant for schools across North Birmingham (Perry Barr, Erdington, Handsworth and surrounding areas). You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and feel safe and supported throughout the school day.

We are looking for patient, resilient, and caring candidates who can build positive relationships and support pupils with a range of needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with additional needs.
• Desirable: Autism/ASD experience, Team Teach or restraint training, SEN or specialist education settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support pupils with learning, communication and development.
• Help pupils manage behaviour and emotions.
• Provide personal care when required.
• Support mobility and manual handling where necessary.
• Build positive relationships with pupils.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider support team.

Pay: £95.00–£100.00 per day

Are you an experienced SEN Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Support Worker looking for a rewarding full-time role where you can make a real difference to children and young people?

We are currently recruiting SEN Support Assistants for schools across North Birmingham, including Perry Barr, Erdington, Handsworth and surrounding areas.

You will be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop their independence and feel safe and supported throughout the school day.

The Role

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
• Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and development
• Helping pupils manage their behaviour and emotions
• Providing personal care where required
• Supporting pupils with mobility and manual handling where necessary
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Working closely with teachers and the wider support team
• Creating a safe, calm and supportive learning environment

Experience & Skills

We are looking for candidates who have experience working with children or young people with additional needs.

The following experience would be highly desirable, although you do not need to have all of these:

• Personal care experience
• Manual handling experience
• Experience supporting children with Autism / ASD
• Restraint or positive handling training, such as Team Teach
• Experience working in SEN or specialist education settings
• Experience supporting challenging behaviour

You will need to be patient, resilient, caring and confident when supporting pupils who may present with complex needs or challenging behaviour.
