Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Specialist SEN Support Worker in the Bury area to support pupils across primary and secondary sectors with SEN/SEMH needs. The role focuses on academic, social, emotional and personal development within a safe, structured setting.

You will work closely with teaching staff and the multidisciplinary team to promote inclusive learning, implementing individualised strategies and safeguarding best practices.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with children or young people with SEN/SEMH.
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and boundaries.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN/SEMH.
  • Supporting pupils to access learning and engage positively within the school environment.
  • Developing positive, professional relationships with pupils based on trust and boundaries.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management.
  • Implementing pupil support plans and following them.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals.
  • Maintaining safeguarding, professional conduct and pupil welfare.
  • Contributing to a positive, structured and nurturing school environment.
