Job summary

Educato Limited in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated SEN Specialist to join a welcoming school on a full-time, long-term basis. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with diverse needs, working closely with teachers and the wider support team.

You will help implement EHCPs and individual learning plans, support emotional regulation and social development, and adapt activities to each pupil’s abilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional needs.
  • Calm, patient, resilient and proactive.
  • Desirable Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification; SEN training welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with diverse needs.
  • Support pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual pupil needs and abilities.
  • Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
  • Support the implementation of EHCPs, individual learning plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff.
  • Maintain a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Job description

A welcoming and supportive SEN school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Specialist to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs, supporting each child to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting pupils with additional needs, working closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised academic, social and emotional support throughout the school day.,

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs
  • Supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
  • Adapting activities and learning to meet individual pupil needs and abilities
  • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships
  • Supporting the implementation of EHCPs, individual learning plans and behaviour strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
  • Maintaining a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional needs

  • Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability
  • Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (desirable)
  • SEN-related qualifications or training (desirable)
  • PECS, Makaton, BSL, AAC or de-escalation training (desirable)
