Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a supportive school in Thurrock. You will plan and deliver differentiated lessons to pupils with SEND, creating an inclusive learning environment where every student can progress.

You will work with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies, manage behaviour, monitor progress, and contribute to EHCP targets while safeguarding pupils and promoting independence.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience with children or young people with SEND.
• Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.
• Support pupils with SEND including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties.
• Develop and implement strategies in line with EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
• Monitor, assess, and record student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and senior staff.
• Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively using positive behaviour support strategies.
• Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit different learning styles and abilities.
• Promote student independence, confidence, and social development.
• Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing policies are followed at all times.

Desirable Skills

• Experience within SEN schools, resource provisions, or mainstream inclusion settings.
• Training in Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, or trauma-informed practice.
• Knowledge of autism-friendly and sensory learning approaches.
