Job summary

TimePlan Education supports a specialist SEN school in East Cheshire seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with complex needs, helping with learning, communication and independence.

The role is full-time, long-term and term-time only, starting in September, with a supportive team and ongoing development opportunities. DBS check and safeguarding are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting students with SEN or challenging behaviour.
  • Experience with ASC, PMLD or complex needs is desirable.
  • Team Teach Level 1 or above is preferred.
  • Excellent resilience, patience and emotional composure.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with complex SEN and additional learning needs
  • Support young people with challenging behaviour, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning
  • Follow individual learning, behaviour and support plans
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with students
  • Encourage engagement, independence and participation
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and specialist professionals
  • Maintain a calm, consistent and proactive approach when faced with challenging situations

Rate: £98 daily rate

Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | Term-Time Only

Are you a resilient, patient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge this academic year?

A specialist SEN school in East Cheshire, supporting young people aged 11-18 with severe additional learning needs, is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join its team. The school supports students with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), communication needs and challenging behaviour.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people develop their confidence, independence, communication and life skills, while providing consistent and positive support throughout the school day.

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with complex SEN and additional learning needs
  • Support young people with challenging behaviour, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning
  • Follow individual learning, behaviour and support plans
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with students

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEN or challenging behaviour
  • Experience working with ASC, PMLD, complex needs or behavioural needs is highly desirable
  • Team Teach Level 1 or above (desirable)
  • Excellent resilience, patience and emotional composure
  • A proactive, positive and consistent approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people
