Blackstone Recruitment Limited is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEN/SEMH at a specialist school in IP24. The role runs from 3rd September 2026 to 18th December 2026 with a potential extension.

Daily rate is £117.35; working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, in a dedicated SEN setting. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help pupils engage with learning, and build trusting relationships while supporting emotional and behavioural

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with SEN and/or SEMH pupils.
  • Experience working within a school, specialist education or similar setting.
  • A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Support pupils with their learning, development and engagement in the classroom.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support children with SEN and/or SEMH needs, helping them to manage emotions and behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers and other members of the school team to deliver appropriate support.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
  • Assist with classroom activities and help create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Follow individual pupil support plans and contribute to their overall progress.
  • Maintain a calm and consistent approach when managing challenging behaviour.
