Job summary

Academics is seeking a Primary Mental Health Assistant for a school in Calne. The role involves supporting pupils with SEMH and additional needs, providing 1:1 and small group support, and collaborating with teachers and SEN staff to create a nurturing environment.

Salary is £90-£105 per day, dependent on experience, with hours 8:30am-4:00pm. Start date ASAP. DBS update service is required or willingness to apply.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience with SEMH or SEN desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to help pupils regulate emotions in lessons.
  • Support children who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, or struggle to engage in the classroom.
  • Deliver small group interventions to build social skills, confidence, and resilience.
  • Use behaviour management strategies to de-escalate challenging situations calmly.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel secure and understood.
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to support individual needs.
