Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking passionate and resilient Support Workers and Teaching Assistants to work in specialist schools and alternative settings across Bolton. Experience with SEN and SEMH is preferred, with a background in care, health, education, or youth work considered.

You will work with staff to deliver individualised pupil support, help achieve educational and behavioural goals, and participate in collaborative planning with families and professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN and SEMH.
• Experience in care, support work, mental health, education, or youth work.
• Willingness to develop career in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development.
• Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with children and young people.
• Assist pupils to engage with learning and participate positively in school activities.
• Implement individual support strategies and follow pupils' education and behaviour plans.
• Support pupils who may demonstrate challenging or distressed behaviour using appropriate de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Encourage independence, confidence, resilience, and positive social interaction.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, families, and other professionals.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and promote the welfare and safety of pupils.
