Job summary

Teacher Active is looking to expand our pool of passionate and reliable SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Worksop and the surrounding areas.

We work with a range of mainstream schools, SEN provisions and alternative education settings, with regular opportunities for Teaching Assistants who have experience supporting children and young people with additional needs.

Opportunities can range from day-to-day flexible supply to short-term cover and longer-term placements, making this ideal for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants looking for either flexibility or consistent work.

As an SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant, you could be providing 1:1 support, working with small groups or supporting pupils within the classroom. You may work with pupils with needs including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour.

A key part of the role will be building trusting relationships with pupils, helping them regulate their emotions, engage positively with education and develop their confidence.

The successful SEN / SEMH Teaching Assistant will ideally have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs
  • Experience within a school, SEN provision, alternative provision or similar setting
  • Confidence supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with pupils
  • An understanding of safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Flexibility and reliability when working across different settings
