Job summary

Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Leeds
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £100 - £120 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with SEMH provisions in Leeds who provide supportive learning environments for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs. These settings focus on creating safe and positive environments where pupils can develop their confidence, independence and engagement with education.

The provisions are looking to take on an SEMH Teaching Assistant for long-term or short-term opportunities. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will support pupils with their learning and emotional development, helping to manage challenging behaviour while building positive relationships and encouraging engagement in the classroom.

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will have:
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour
  • A patient, resilient and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A positive and adaptable attitude
