SEN Primary Teacher - Bedford- SEN Primary Teacher

Academics are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Primary Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Bedford on a long-term basis, with an immediate start available.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate teacher who is looking to work within a specialist environment where teaching is highly personalised and focused around the individual needs of each pupil.

The school supports children with a range of complex learning needs, including severe learning difficulties, autism and associated communication, sensory and physical needs. The successful teacher will be confident adapting the curriculum, creating engaging lessons and working closely with support staff to ensure every pupil is able to make progress.

You will be responsible for:
  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons across a primary curriculum
  • Adapting teaching to meet a range of SEN and complex learning needs
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, communication, social and emotional development
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and wider professionals
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to individual education plans and EHCP outcomes
  • Creating a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment
  • Building strong relationships with pupils and helping them develop confidence and independenceThe ideal SEN Primary Teacher will:
  • Have qualified teacher status or relevant teaching experience
  • Have previous experience working with SEN pupils, either within a specialist SEN school or a mainstream setting supporting pupils with high needs
  • Be confident adapting lessons and using a range of teaching strategies
  • Have a patient, nurturing and consistent approach
  • Be committed to supporting pupils with complex additional needs
