Job summary

Sense Education Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant to support children with SEN in a specialist setting in Bury. You will assist with play-based activities and communication-focused learning, providing 1:1 and small-group support.

Qualifications

• Experience in schools or health and social care settings, youth work, or with young people with SEN.
• Soft skills: creativity, confidence, patience, empathy, and strong communication.
• Graduate in psychology, education, or child development; Teaching assistant or childcare qualifications desirable.
• Training in PECs and Makaton desirable; Team Teach desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN.
• Work with teachers, therapists and support staff to create a calm environment.
• Engage in play-based activities and storytelling to support learning.
• Use PECs, Makaton, visual schedules and communication boards to aid understanding.
