The school supports young people with additional and complex needs, many of whom have experienced disruption to their previous education. Pupils benefit from a personalised and nurturing approach designed to rebuild confidence, increase engagement and support progress both academically and personally.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working creatively, building strong relationships with pupils and adapting their teaching to meet individual learning needs.

The Role

As the Maths Teacher, you will take responsibility for planning, preparing, delivering and assessing engaging Maths lessons that enable pupils to make meaningful progress.

You will work closely with teaching assistants and the wider school team to provide a structured and supportive learning environment where pupils can develop their confidence and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and differentiated Maths lessons
  • Preparing learning resources appropriate to individual pupil needs
  • Assessing, monitoring and recording pupil progress
  • Adapting teaching strategies for pupils with additional and complex needs
  • Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and re-engage with education
  • Establishing positive and consistent relationships with pupils
  • Maintaining high expectations for learning, behaviour and achievement
  • Supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development
  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other professionals
  • Contributing to curriculum planning and the wider school community
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Have experience teaching Maths within a secondary setting
  • Be confident planning, delivering and assessing Maths lessons
  • Have an interest in working within SEN or alternative education
  • Be able to differentiate and adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
  • Be a creative and inspiring classroom practitioner
  • Have strong behaviour and classroom management skills
  • Be patient, resilient and flexible in their approach
  • Be able to build positive relationships with young people
  • Work effectively as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team

Previous experience within an SEN, SEMH or alternative provision setting would be advantageous, although teachers with strong mainstream experience and a genuine interest in moving into specialist education are also encouraged to apply.

The School Offers:
  • Small classes and opportunities to provide highly personalised teaching
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team
  • A positive and nurturing working environment
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • The opportunity to make significant progress with pupils who benefit from individualised support
  • A highly rewarding role where your teaching can have a lasting impact

This role would suit an experienced Maths Teacher looking for a new challenge or a teacher interested in developing their career within specialist education.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and all relevant pre-employment checks.
