Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a caring SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Sheffield. You will work with pupils individually and in small groups, helping them access activities and develop independence with a calm and supportive approach.

Previous SEN experience is desirable, with transferable experience from TA, care, youth work, or mental health support considered. The role is full-time, term-time only.

Qualifications

• Patience and empathy with children; SEN experience preferred.
• Transferable experience from TA, care, youth work, or mental health support is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils individually and in small groups.
• Help pupils access classroom activities and learning.
• Provide encouragement and reassurance as needed.
• Support communication, social development and emotional regulation.
• Help pupils develop independence and confidence.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and resources.
• Follow individual support and behaviour plans.
• Work as part of a wider SEN support team.
• Create a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment.
