Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Nelson, Lancashire. You will support pupils with autism and additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and participate in class activities.

Working closely with teaching staff and the SEND team, you will provide one-to-one and small-group support, fostering communication, social skills, confidence, and independence throughout the school day.

Qualifications

Genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
Experience with children, young adults or individuals with additional needs is beneficial.
Experience in support work, care, residential care, youth work or similar settings is advantageous.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to stay calm and consistent when supporting pupils with challenges in communication, behaviour or emotional regulation.

Responsibilities

Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate in activities.
Help develop pupils' communication and social skills and build confidence and independence.
Provide one-to-one and small-group support as needed throughout the school day.
Collaborate with teaching staff and the SEND team to tailor support to individual needs.
Offer patient, compassionate, and reliable support to pupils and maintain safeguarding practices.
