Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant for a specialist secondary and post-16 setting in Blackley, Manchester. You will work with pupils across KS3, KS4 and Post-16 with EHCPs, supporting learning and independence.

You will collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to help pupils access lessons, manage transitions and develop essential skills in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Patient, proactive and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
• Able to use own initiative and respond confidently in changing situations.
• Comfortable providing personal care with dignity and professionalism.
• Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Remain calm and resilient when supporting learners with challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Encourage engagement and participation in lessons.
• Promote independence, communication and social development.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Support pupils during transitions, break times and enrichment activities.
• Adapt approach to meet individual needs of learners.
