Job summary

Randstad Education supports a Further Education college in Bromley seeking a Learning Support Assistant to aid learners with SEN. You will work with teaching staff to promote progress and independence, using person-centred strategies and assistive technologies. A commitment to safeguarding and DBS checks is expected.

Role involves supporting personal care, mobility, and communication, with a focus on enabling EHCP-goal attainment and inclusive learning across a multicultural campus.

Qualifications

• A good standard of general education, with Level 2 Maths and English (or a willingness to complete them).
• Enthusiastic, personable, and adaptable; comfortable and willing to provide personal care and mobility assistance; strong communication skills (Makaton, BSL, or Sign-a-Long abilities are desirable).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of support managers and curriculum teams.
• Support students with their personal care, safety, well-being, and physical mobility requirements.
• Encourage the growth of independent learning skills and self-advocacy.
• Ensure specialist assistive technologies and equipment are prepared and operational for student use.
• Help evaluate student progress and contribute to the updates of person-centred support plans.
• Proactively identify barriers to learning and apply intervention strategies to resolve difficulties.
• Liaise with parents, key workers, and external support agencies as required.
