Job summary

Fresh Start in Education Ltd is seeking a SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our flexible staffing pool in Suffolk. You will provide targeted 1:1 or small-group support for children and young people with SEN in homes or suitable settings, delivering bespoke sessions and tracking progress.

Ideal candidates have at least one year in SEN/SEMH support, a strong understanding of safeguarding, and the ability to work across EYFS to Post-16 contexts.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience supporting children and young people with SEN/SEMH.
• Background in EYFS/Primary/Secondary or post-16 settings.
• Up-to-date safeguarding and child protection understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or 2:1 support in homes or suitable public settings
• Deliver personalised, creative sessions reflecting each learner’s needs
• Monitor progress and set clear, achievable targets to support development
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed
• Work flexible bank staff contract and term-time hours (3–5 hours per session)

We're currently looking for Education Specialists in Suffolk and surrounding areas to join our team in providing bespoke and holistic support to children and young people who are out of mainstream education. If you’re passionate about supporting learners with SEND and want a role where every day makes a difference, we would love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing 1:1 or 2:1 support to children and young people in their homes or a suitable public setting
• Delivering personalised, creative sessions that reflect each learner’s needs, interests and abilities
• Monitoring and reporting on student progress after each session and setting clear, achievable targets to support ongoing development
• Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
• Working flexibly (on a bank staff contract) and term-time only, with sessions typically lasting 3 to 5 hours during the school day

Who we’re looking for

• Education professionals with at least one year experience supporting children and young people with SEN and SEMH needs
• Those from EYFS, Primary, Secondary or Post-16 backgrounds, including specialist SEND settings
• Individuals with a minimum of 2 consistent weekdays of availability
• Professionals with up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and child protection
