Job summary

Fresh Start in Education Ltd is seeking a SEN Learning Support Assistant in Nailsea, Somerset, to provide 1:1 or small-group educational support to children and young people with SEND. Sessions run during the school day, term-time only, in homes or specialist settings, with flexible, compassionate teamwork.

You will help learners build confidence, deliver creative sessions tailored to needs, and collaborate with a supportive, expert team. Salary £25–£36 per hour.

Qualifications

  • SEN experience or related education experience.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
  • Ability to work with children with diverse needs (SEND, SEMH).
  • Experience or interest in working with students with autism or learning difficulties.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing 1:1 or 2:1 educational support to children and young people in their homes or specialist settings in the Somerset area.
  • Sessions run during the school day (term time only) and typically last 3 to 5 hours.
  • Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you, your skills and creative input.
  • Engaging learners with Special Educational Needs or Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.
  • Delivering creative sessions tailored to each learner’s needs and interests.
  • Supporting young people with additional needs
  • Helping learners build confidence and achieve meaningful outcomes at their own pace.

Who We’re Looking For
  • Teachers, tutors, teaching assistants, SEN specialists and other education professionals.
  • Those with Primary, Secondary, Post-16 or specialist SEND experience
  • Professionals with experience or interest in working with students with autism, communication needs, and learning difficulties.
  • Candidates with a minimum of 2 consistent weekdays of availability.
  • Professionals with up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
