Job summary

Fresh Start in Education is seeking a SEN Learning Support Assistant in Beccles, offering bank staff contracts with term-time sessions typically 3 to 5 hours. You will provide 1:1 or 2:1 support to learners in homes or community settings, delivering personalised sessions and monitoring progress to set achievable targets.

Experience with SEN and SEMH is essential; Makaton/PECS knowledge and safeguarding awareness are advantageous. Availability on a couple of weekdays is preferred.

We're currently looking for Education Specialists to join our team in providing bespoke and holistic support to children and young people who are out of mainstream education. If you’re passionate about supporting learners with SEND and want a role where every day makes a difference, we would love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing
  • Providing 1:1 or 2:1 support to children and young people in their homes or a suitable public setting
  • Delivering personalised, creative sessions that reflect each learner’s needs, interests and abilities
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress after each session and setting clear, achievable targets to support ongoing development
  • Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
  • Working flexibly (on a bank staff contract) and term-time only, with sessions typically lasting 3 to 5 hours during the school day
Who we’re looking for
  • Education professionals with SEN and SEMH needs experience
  • Those from Primary, Secondary or Post-16 backgrounds, including specialist SEND settings (experience with Makaton, PECS and behaviour support is an advantage)
  • Individuals with a minimum of 2 consistent weekdays of availability
  • Professionals with up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and child protection
