Job summary

AMA Admin seeks a Learning & Behaviour Mentor in Reigate, Surrey to support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs from September 2026. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, building trust, and promoting wellbeing within a caring school context.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and SEN staff, employing positive strategies to help pupils access learning and develop resilience and independence.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, ASD, or ADHD.
• Patient, empathetic and able to understand individual needs.
• Confident supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional challenges.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Able to remain calm, consistent and positive in challenging situations.
• Reliable, enthusiastic and committed to making a difference.
• Passionate about supporting young people's learning and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with learning, behavioural, and emotional needs.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to improve confidence and engagement.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and developing positive coping strategies.
• Help pupils access the curriculum effectively.
• Work with teachers and pastoral teams for consistent support.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to promote engagement and independence.
• Support pupils during lessons, transitions and wider activities.
• Act as a positive role model encouraging resilience and personal development.
• Help create a safe, structured learning environment.
