Job summary

The Graduate Network is helping a primary school in Balsall Heath find a nurturing SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant to support two children with significant physical and medical needs.

You will provide individualised support throughout the school day, assisting mobility, personal care and communication, and you will help pupils access learning and take part in school life.

Psychology graduates with a 2:2 and an interest in SEND are encouraged to apply; a DBS check is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

  • A minimum 2:2 degree, ideally in Psychology or a related subject.
  • Experience working with children, ideally within SEND, care or a similar setting.
  • Confidence supporting personal care, mobility, communication and physical programmes.
  • A patient, nurturing and reliable approach, with moving and handling experience desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualised support to two pupils with physical and medical needs.
  • Assist with mobility, communication and personal care.
  • Deliver physical programmes under professional guidance.
  • Monitor fatigue and adapt activities to promote confidence and independence.
  • Support pupils to access learning and participate in school life.
