Job Title: SEN English Teacher

Salary: £140 - £170 per day

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist secondary SEN school based in Newton Abbot, which provides a supportive learning environment for students with additional needs. The school focuses on vocational subjects and practical learning opportunities, with a dedicated Senior Leadership Team committed to supporting both staff and students.

The school is looking to appoint an experienced SEN English Teacher on a long-term temporary basis, starting ASAP until the end of the academic year. The successful SEN English Teacher will be teaching English across Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4, adapting lessons for students working at a lower academic level, many of whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder / ADHD, while demonstrating strong behaviour management skills.

The successful SEN English Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS with an English specialism
• Experience teaching English across KS3 and KS4, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs
• Experience supporting students with SEMH, ADHD and additional learning difficulties
• Strong behaviour management skills and proven experience managing challenging behaviours
• The ability to deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons for students working below age-related expectations
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach to teaching
