Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient Behaviour Mentor to provide dedicated 1:1 support for an 8-year-old Year 4 pupil in a specialist SEN setting in Barnet. The role emphasises understanding underlying behaviours, building trust, and helping the pupil feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.

You will work closely with teachers and the pastoral/SEN team to support emotional regulation, set clear routines, and contribute to individual targets while maintaining firm, compassionate boundaries

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH, Autism or challenging behaviour.
  • Able to build rapport while maintaining firm boundaries.
  • Confident de-escalating challenging situations.
  • Experience in SEN schools, behaviour provision, mentoring or youth work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.
  • Support emotional regulation and SEMH needs.
  • Respond calmly to challenging situations and establish routines and boundaries.
  • Work with teachers and the wider pastoral/SEN team to support learning.
  • Contribute towards EHCP and behaviour targets.
