Job summary

AP Education is recruiting SEMH Tutors for Suffolk to provide 1:1 support. You will work with learners with complex needs, delivering core subjects or SEMH-focused support in a flexible, term-time schedule.

You will conduct assessments, report progress, and liaise with external professionals to ensure holistic care. QTS/HLTA preferred, with two years UK experience welcomed without qualifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA certification preferred; UK experience without qualifications welcomed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEMH-specific sessions.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic, adaptable approach to education addressing individual needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform support.
• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with SALT, OT, social workers.
• Manage attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings.
