Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Bridgend is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEMH needs within a welcoming mainstream primary school. You will provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support, helping the child feel valued and engaged in learning.

Qualifications

Experience working with children, SEMH, behavioural or additional learning needs.
Patience, empathy and resilience.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
Committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.
Holding a Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Implement behaviour support strategies and individual learning plans.
Encourage emotional regulation, resilience and positive engagement.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support pupil progress.
Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Assist with classroom activities and interventions that support academic and personal development.
