Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Cardiff is seeking an Unqualified Pupil Behavioural Assistant to support learners with SEMH. You will work in small groups of around 4-6 pupils and may provide 1:1 support to those with more complex needs, helping them re-engage with education.

The role emphasises trauma-informed, restorative approaches, calm patience, and strong relationships. No prior experience is required; DBS and EWC registration are requested, with driving licence helpful.

Qualifications

• No previous experience is required.
• DBS on Update Service (we can support you).
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
• Full UK driving licence and access to personal transport.

Responsibilities

• Supporting learners to regulate emotions using traumainformed and restorative approaches.
• Helping pupils reestablish positive learning routines and develop resilience, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Implementing behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies.
• Encouraging engagement through personalised activities that build confidence, self-esteem, and motivation.
