Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH and AP setting in St Helens. The role starts January, full-time and long-term, supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, using de-escalation strategies to help pupils regulate emotions and engage with learning.

The candidate will work with a dedicated team, receive CPD opportunities, and benefit from market-leading pay with an employer that values safeguarding and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Experience using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils.
• Confidence managing challenging situations and promoting a positive learning environment.
• A resilient, patient and consistent approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
