Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd in Bury, Greater Manchester is seeking a calm SEMH Teaching Assistant for a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). You will support students with SEMH, autism and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 and small-group basis, building trust and helping learners re-engage with education.

The position is long-term with potential to go permanent; it is on-site in BL9, with competitive pay (£95 to £120 per day). This temporary role offers a chance to join a dedicated team and gain real job security.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months’ experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• A patient, empathetic and proactive approach.
• A passion for helping students achieve their full potential — academically and personally.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH, Autism and behavioural challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Build trust, provide emotional support and help learners re‑engage with education.
• Work closely with teachers, mentors and behaviour leads to implement individual support plans.
• Encourage personal growth, resilience and positive choices.
