Job summary

Supply Desk is recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in West Drayton. The role involves in-class and off-class support, helping students regulate emotions, engage with learning, and build positive behaviours in a nurturing environment.

The position is full-time, long-term, with an ASAP start. A DBS check and Safer Recruitment standards apply, with continual CPD opportunities and support from the school network.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a school or SEMH setting.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Ability to build rapport with secondary-aged students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support pupils with transitions throughout the school day.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
