Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Bolton area from September. This full-time role supports students with SEND and SEMH needs, helping them access learning and engage in activities.

You will work with teaching and pastoral staff to promote positive behaviour, academic progress, and social development, building strong relationships with pupils and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in SEMH, behavioural, education or care settings.
• SEND experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Calm, patient, and nurturing approach, able to stay professional in challenging situations.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one (Prospero can provide this service).

Responsibilities

• Support students in accessing learning and participating in classroom activities.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support when required.
• Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour management strategies.
• Support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and other support staff.
• Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
