Job summary

Edex Westminster is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support primary pupils with SEMH and other learning needs in a specialist Westminster setting. The role emphasises personalised support to help pupils engage with learning, build confidence and regulate emotions.

A Psychology or related degree is advantageous, with prior SEMH or SEN experience welcome. The position is full-time, term-time only, Monday to Friday, with a focus on fostering positive relationships and independent learning

Qualifications

A degree in Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology or a related subject would be beneficial but is not essential.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A patient, resilient and empathetic approach.

Responsibilities

Supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and additional SEN requirements.
Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning and manage their emotions.
Working alongside the class teacher and wider support team to create a positive and structured learning environment.
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, social development and building positive relationships.
Encouraging engagement, independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of each child.
