Job summary

GSL Education is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEMH school in Princes Risborough. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils engage with learning and regulate emotions, while building trusting relationships and promoting positive behaviour.

The role requires patience, resilience and empathy, with experience in SEMH or challenging behaviour advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

Previous experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour is advantageous but not essential.
Patient, resilient and empathetic.
Confident working with children and young people.
Able to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations.
Good at building positive relationships and gaining trust.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support in and outside the classroom.
Support pupils to engage positively with their learning.
Help pupils regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviour.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
Encourage positive behaviour and develop pupils' confidence and independence.
Support teachers and the wider school team with individual pupil needs.
Help create a calm, safe and supportive learning environment.
Follow individual behaviour and support plans where required.
Maintain a consistent and positive approach when working with challenging behaviour.
