Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in Bristol. You will help children feel safe, valued and ready to learn, building trusting relationships and staying calm under pressure.

You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs, apply positive behaviour strategies, celebrate small wins, and contribute to long-term outcomes. This full-time role starts in September and offers ongoing consultant support and opportunities across Bristol.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour.
  • Calm and patience, even in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
  • Resilience, empathy, and genuine passion for supporting young people.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and around the school

SEMH Teaching Assistant

This isn't the easiest role you'll ever do, but it could be one of the most rewarding.

Some children need more than classroom support. They need someone who can see beyond the behaviour, build trust, and help them believe in themselves again.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
