Job summary

Leicester City Council's SEND Support Services are expanding their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Team. This peripatetic role supports schools and pupils across Leicester city, with some remote work from other council settings or home.

You will be a qualified teacher with SEND/SEMH experience, assess needs, mentor staff, contribute to EHCPs, and collaborate with multi‑agency partners to deliver inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• QTS with substantial SEND/SEMH experience.
• Awareness of EHCP processes and multi‑agency work.
• DBS enhanced clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and inclusive guidance — assessing needs, offering recommendations, and monitoring progress.
• Mentoring, coaching and advising school staff at all levels — guiding support strategies, SEND processes and policies.
• Multi‑agency collaboration — contributing to EHCPs, pastoral meetings, core groups, TAC/TAF processes.
• Some direct work with pupils — modelling and coaching to develop social skills and resilience.
• Transition support — ensuring smooth transitions between settings and engagement during placements.
