Job summary

Think FE is recruiting a Specialist Learning Support Assistant for an inclusive further education college in Northamptonshire. This role supports learners with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them engage with education and build confidence through consistent, individualised support alongside teaching and pastoral colleagues.

You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, assist in de-escalation of challenging behaviour, contribute to learner support plans, and maintain

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with SEMH or SEND.
• Confident with de-escalation techniques.
• Strong safeguarding and confidentiality understanding.
• Excellent communication, organization and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist one-to-one and small-group support for learners with SEMH needs.
• Help learners manage behaviour through calm de-escalation strategies.
• Contribute to individual behaviour and learner support plans.
• Motivate, mentor and build positive relationships with learners.
• Maintain accurate EHCP and learner-support records.
• Monitor attendance, engagement and progress.
• Prepare learning resources tailored to individual needs.
• Support learners in working towards personal and educational goals.
• Work closely with teaching, learning-support and pastoral teams.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
