Job summary

Think FE Ltd invites applications for a Specialist Learning Support Assistant at an inclusive further education college in Northamptonshire. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners with SEMH, helping them engage with education and build confidence.

You will work with teaching and pastoral staff to maintain EHCP records, track attendance and progress, and assist with individual support plans. A patient, collaborative approach and safeguarding awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
• Experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND, learning difficulties, physical disabilities or behavioural needs.
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation techniques.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
• A patient, resilient and consistent approach.
• The ability to work collaboratively with teaching and support colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist one-to-one and small-group support for learners with SEMH needs.
• Help learners manage their behaviour through calm and appropriate de-escalation strategies.
• Contribute to individual behaviour and learner support plans.
• Motivate, mentor and build positive professional relationships with learners.
• Maintain accurate EHCP and learner-support records.
• Monitor attendance, engagement and progress.
• Prepare learning resources tailored to individual needs.
• Support learners in working towards their personal and educational goals.
• Work closely with teaching, learning-support and pastoral teams.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
