Job summary

Lotus Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs in Canterbury.

The role is full-time and long-term supply, offering the chance to build strong relationships with pupils, work closely with teachers, and develop strategies to support emotional regulation and learning in a specialist education setting.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Patient, resilient and proactive.
• Ability to build positive relationships and stay calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Passionate about making a difference to young people's lives.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs, including emotional regulation and behavioural challenges.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support in the classroom.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Support learning, engagement and personal development.
• Use positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider team to provide consistent, tailored support.
