Qualifications

  • Support children\'s emotional wellbeing and mental health.
  • Be patient, empathetic and confident in building positive relationships with young people.
  • Demonstrate resilience and a proactive approach when supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interested in a future career in teaching, educational psychology, counselling, therapy, or special educational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Support children in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping strategies.
  • Build trusted relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, self-esteem, and engagement in learning.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to individual support plans alongside the wider school team.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external agencies to provide consistent, high-quality support.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help create a calm, inclusive learning environment.
