Job summary

Academics Ltd. is seeking an SEMH Intervention Support Assistant in Slough to help pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, starting September 2026. You will deliver targeted interventions and work within a caring primary school setting to promote wellbeing and engagement.

You will build nurturing relationships, support emotional regulation, and collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and families to monitor progress and adapt plans for individual pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or mental health needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and resilience in working with young learners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Support children in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping strategies.
• Build trusted relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, self-esteem, and engagement in learning.
• Monitor progress and contribute to individual support plans alongside the wider school team.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external agencies to provide consistent, high-quality support.
• Promote positive behaviour and help create a calm, inclusive learning environment.
