Job summary

Academics is recruiting a Mental Health Assistant to join a school in Stroud. You will support students with SEMH and additional needs, providing 1:1 and small group support, promoting emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

Ideal candidates will have experience with SEN/SEMH, strong communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff. DBS update and UK right-to-work are required; salary is 90–105 per day, with ongoing consultant support.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting SEN, SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs.
• Support emotional regulation, wellbeing and engagement in learning.
• Assist with behaviour strategies and promote positive coping.
• Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff and external professionals.
