Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment are working with a highly regarded secondary school in LU3, Luton, to recruit a committed Teaching Assistant / Pastoral Support Assistant.

This role involves providing 1:1 and small-group support, assisting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs, building positive relationships, and helping students access lessons. It offers a long-term opportunity with temp-to-perm potential and dedicated consultant support from Luma Education Recruitment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in education or pastoral setting.
• Calm, patient approach to behaviour management.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
• SEMH, behaviour or pastoral experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
• Support students with SEMH, emotional and behavioural needs
• Build positive relationships based on trust, consistency and clear boundaries
• Encourage engagement with learning and support pupils to access lessons
• Work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to provide targeted support
