Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment in England seeks an experienced mentor, youth practitioner, or instructor to support disaffected young people (11-16+) with SEMH needs. The role is full-time and temp-to-perm; QTS is not required, but resilience, empathy and practical engagement skills are essential.

You will deliver 1:1 and small-group literacy, numeracy, personal development, and life-skills sessions across outreach hubs and community sites, travel between locations, and log progress for multi‑agency

Qualifications

Experience working with challenging behaviour, SEMH, and disengaged youth.
Ability to design engaging activities without direct supervision.
Driving licence and access to a vehicle on a daily basis.
Enhanced DBS on update service or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

1:1 & small-group delivery of literacy, numeracy, personal development and life skills.
Re-engagement and mentoring to rebuild confidence in education.
De-escalation and regulation using positive behaviour support.
Outreach mobility between Colne, Nelson, Burnley locations and community sites.
Progress monitoring and logging wellbeing and academic progression for reviews.
