Job summary

TimePlan Education are seeking an experienced SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive alternative provision setting in Toxteth, Liverpool. You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support pupils both academically and personally, helping them overcome barriers and progress towards positive outcomes.

The role focuses on building trusting relationships, supporting behaviour management and promoting engagement, attendance and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
• Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Confident in managing challenging behaviour and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support inside and outside the classroom.
• Help pupils engage with learning and the school environment.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils to support personal development.
• Support behaviour management and pupil emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to meet individual needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and independence.
• Assist with academic work and wider personal development.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times.
