TimePlan Education is recruiting an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join an alternative provision setting in Toxteth, Liverpool. You will support pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH needs, delivering 1:1 and small-group support to help them engage with learning and the school community.

The role focuses on building positive relationships, behaviour support, and contributing to pupils’ academic and personal development while adhering to safeguarding policies.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils aged 11-16 with SEMH and additional learning needs
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support both inside and outside the classroom

• Building trusting and positive relationships with pupils
• Supporting behaviour management and helping pupils regulate their emotions
• Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to support individual pupil needs
• Encouraging positive behaviour, attendance and engagement

Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs?

TimePlan Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive alternative provision setting in Toxteth, Liverpool.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to pupils who may have struggled to engage within a mainstream school environment.

The Role

As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to support pupils both academically and personally.

The setting provides alternative education for young people who have struggled to engage with, or have been removed from, mainstream education. The approach is focused on individualised support, helping pupils overcome barriers and progress towards positive future destinations.

Your responsibilities will include:

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working with young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or additional needs.

You may be an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker or similar professional looking to develop your career within education.

Previous experience within SEMH, PRU, alternative provision, SEND, youth work or residential settings would be highly advantageous.

The Setting

The provision is based in Toxteth, Liverpool, and supports young people aged 11-16 through an alternative approach to education.

The setting operates with a small-school model, allowing staff to provide more individualised support to pupils. The curriculum includes core subjects such as English, Maths and ICT, alongside Science, PE, Careers, wellbeing, mental health awareness and other enrichment opportunities.

The Liverpool setting has two modern classrooms and a dedicated ICT suite, with access to sports facilities including sports halls, fitness suites and outdoor 3G pitches.

The school aims to ensure pupils have opportunities to work towards recognised qualifications and positive post-16 destinations, while supporting those who have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
